Vietnamese-based concept store ‘Green Around the Corner’ that sells eco-friendly and sustainable kitchenware and beauty products is taking its experiential products to a whole new level with the debut of its forthcoming interactive children’s book, ‘The Boy Who Could Not Wait’.
As mentioned on their official Instagram page, the storybook is not only hand-stitched, partly silkscreened, and features pages made from 100% recycled paper to follow the retailer’s eco-friendly ethos, but it also includes a special section in the book that allows readers to water the pages physically, simultaneously allowing children to enjoy a fun, magical experience to watch a real garden grows right in front of their eyes. Specifically made just for Christmas celebration, the ‘magical’ and interactive storybook was designed by the independent communication design company Ki to teach children ‘about the joy of patience and the beauty of growing’.
The illustrated story features depictions of plants and a boy, who stumbles across a novel that instructs him to be patient, to ‘wait’. The main character then makes it farther along his journey, whereby he is guided to pick up a pail and water one of the final pages.
Although it takes a long time, however, the book will soon sprout real plants, allowing kids to feel a burst of excitement and enjoy their very own garden.
In addition to the recycled component, ‘The Boy Who Could Not Wait’ is priced at 650 VND, which is approximately RM0.20 only! Wow, I bet this is the cheapest storybook in the world!
The company also mentioned that this will mark as a perfect Christmas gift and it is expected to arrive right in time for the Christmas holiday.
