This marks Malaysia entering the “exit strategy” phase of the MCO plan.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin made the announcement on the 7th of June addressing the effectiveness of the MCO and CMCO in controlling the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. In this stage, the nation will see a lot more relaxations beginning next Wednesday. The highlights of the speech consists of a less controlled movement amongst the rakyat.
So, what has changed?
1.You can visit your relatives and travel interstate
Great news! We no longer need any documents for interstate travel. While we are still not allowed to travel out of the country, we are given the leniency to travel across states to balik kampung. This is open to all areas except those under EMCO (Enforced Movement Control Order).
2.Almost all economic sectors and activities are allowed to operate
These include hair salons, beauty salons and nail parlours, non contact sports, education, and most social activities. However, they must adapt to the new normal regulations.
3.But there are also some activities and premises that are still NOT allowed to return to normal
These activities include pubs and nightclubs, reflexology centres, karaoke centres, theme parks, sports competitions and contact sports, or any other activities that involve mass gatherings.
4.School will gradually open in stages
With the advice of MOH, the Ministry of Education has decided to open schools in stages. The detailed announcement will be made by its minister soon.

While these changes are giving us more and more freedom, it’s best if we still follow SOPs. Keep wearing masks, and using hand sanitizers. Practice social distancing and be safe.
