The end of the year is here, and many have made plans to go on holidays during this period of the year, with most of them particularly interested to experience the magical winter wonderland in Europe, Japan and more.
However, you don’t necessarily have to burn a hole in your pocket as Thailand will be experiencing winter, minus the snow!
According to the Thailand Meteorological Department, the weather will take a turn for the chill this December to February! Bangkok will not be spared from the cold, with temperatures hitting 15- 17 C.
Meanwhile, the northern parts of the country are bracing for a colder wave! Chiang Rai, famous for it’s Wat Phra Kaew temple, and Navel City Pillars will be experiencing a cold temperature form 7 C-9 C! While Chiang Mai will be experiencing 12 – 14 Celsius.
Thai winter is a weather phenomenon where from the month of November onward, the northern parts of Thailand experience cold weather due to a cold wave from China. Though sometimes the phenomenon is concentrated to the north of the country, it can spread to the rest of the country.
Moreover, the MET department also warned that Thailand might expect to get harsher cold fronts from China throughout February.
Brrr, do get prepared!
So, if you’re visiting Thailand from this December to February, do pack some extra layers to keep yourselves warm up through the cold! Who knows, the cold there might be colder than you think. So pack your extra layers, and enjoy the chill in the tropics!
