Well, good news to all you rice-lovers because research actually shows that rice can prevent obesity!
Say What Now?!
That’s right. The research that was led by Professor Tomoko Imai, from Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts, suggests that rice is low in fat due to its fibre, nutrients and plant compounds found in whole grains which makes us feel full faster and prevents over-eating.
Researchers also observed that countries following a Japanese or Asian-style diet with rice can lower obesity rate.
So don’t be afraid to “tambah nasi” or get your Nasi Lemak, Nasi Kukus, Nasi Goreng, Chicken Rice… you get what we mean. But of course, remember to eat a balanced meal!
