Guess self-love is not a new word to any of us anymore. But what does it mean and how do we practice it? Why self-love is necessary for everyone’s life? We will break it down for you below.
What is Self-love?
Self-love is a practice of self-appreciation, by having a high regard for your overall growth and happiness, particularly on your mental health. It is also the key to keep depression at bay, but still, it’s okay to be not okay sometimes and we all face depression anyways.
How do people normally practice Self-love?
- Embrace flaws and imperfections
- Prioritise your own first rather than pleasing others!
- Replace self-criticism with love words/ encouragement
- Detach yourself from toxic relationships
- Think about progress and not perfections
- Allowing your emotions not suppressing
- Be kind to people around us as you do not know what they are facing (they might be struggling inside too! Spread Love, not hate.)
Why is it necessary?
- It gives you the strength to live better
- It motivates you to make healthy life choices
- It fills in the gap that you’ve been left out by the other sources
- It helps you to live happily and mindfully
- It hinders you away from hurting yourself as it sets boundaries and bottom lines
We know that the constant lockdown and movement restrictions might have driven us nuts, and that’s why self-care has become even more important as a way to heal and recharge ourselves from time to time. Hang in there, people!
