School is officially out for the year! In other words, parents out there will have to work their brain juice to wear off their kids’ energy by throwing in a few family vacations in between. Planning a holiday doesn’t always have to be an expensive affair as Malaysia is blessed with beautiful, fun-filled touristy spots.
We’ve compiled a list with 5 different locations from West Malaysia which you should consider while planning your trips.
1. Genting Highlands
With a plethora of activities to do and sights to take in, Genting Highlands will always remain a cult favorite family destination amidst the cool, misty weather up there. The Awana Skyway, Chin Swee Cave Temple, Snow World and the new Genting Highlands Premium Outlets among others are some of the many attractions for the whole family to enjoy!
2. Cameron Highlands
Looking for a short vacation to escape the tropical heat? Where better than to plan a getaway at one of Malaysia’s most popular family holiday destinations? The chilly weather and lush, green landscapes whisks you away from the busy pace of life in the city, even if just for a weekend. Immerse yourself in nature by visiting the tea plantations, taking a trip down the honey bee far, strolling down the Mossy Forest board walk at Gunung Brinchang and rewarding yourself with fresh strawberries.
3. Langkawi
Known as the Jewel of Kedah, Langkawi offers a multitude of attractions from the most luxurious accommodations, inexpensive duty-free shopping (chocolates!), Langkawi skybridge, island hopping tours and beautiful serene beaches. For those adrenaline junkies, the beaches offer a multitude of water sports ranging from parasailing, jet skiing and our all-time favorite banana boat!
4. Penang
Food, oh glorious food galore! That would be the first thing that crosses everyone’s mind when planning a trip to Penang. Penang is home to Malaysia’s all-time mouth-watering local food such as char kuey teow, sotong mee and asam laksa among others. Besides the delicious food, Penang has a certain historic charm that engulfs the island. Immerse yourself in the island’s art and culture as you take a stroll down the street art in George Town while exploring the Peranakan museums around the island.
5. Malacca
This little state in Peninsular Malaysia packs a punch when it comes to its cultural heritage and Nyonya food. Malacca is a destination where both tourists and locals flock to for a quick getaway. If your family has yet been to Malacca before, an introductory sightseeing experience of the historical town (think A’Famosa, Dutch Square and Christ Church) and beautiful temples helps you appreciate it more. Also, you do not want to miss the famous Jonker Street with rows and rows of delicious food perfectly capturing the spirit of Malacca.
6. Sungkai Klah Hotspring Park
Fancy a hotspring holiday trip down with the family? I guarantee children would love it here just as much as adults. It is reputed to be one of the best managed hot springs in Malaysia. Be amazed by the lush greenery, hills and streams as you soak up the many benefits of the hot spring. Those with stiff muscles, stiff joints and skin related problems should definitely consider a trip down this amazing park.
