Last week, the well-respected career of Chinese artist Cai Xukun (蔡徐坤) aka KUN came to an end. As it turns out, the famous singer-songwriter was also affected by the #MeToo movement, and someone recently took the chance to point out his mistakes.
On June 26, reporters said that Cai Xukun had sexual intercourse with someone, got them pregnant, and then asked her to get rid of the baby. The artist has finally said something about the claims that he pushed a woman to have an abortion.
Last week, a paparazzo said that the 24-year-old singer had gotten a woman named “C” pregnant after a one-night stand and then pushed her to get an abortion.
Earlier this week, July 3, Xukun said on Weibo that his relationship with C was mutually agreed upon and denied doing anything wrong.
He admitted that he and C used to date, but that they broke up two years ago and that their private problems had been fixed.
When the news first came out, many people were stunned and shocked. The paparazzi say that Xukun didn’t want to take blame for what happened after a one-night stand. Even worse, it was said that his mother had gotten involved and spoken up for him.
She must have tried to make the woman happy by giving her money. She apparently hired private detectives to follow the woman in question and put a pinhole camera in her house to keep an eye on her. Later, the situation was reported to the police, and Xukun and the woman are said to have solved the problem with a letter of agreement. But that was reportedly the last time anyone saw Xukun in public.
“The relationship between C and I was consensual… There is no such thing as ‘the woman is underage’ or a ‘forced abortion’. It did not involve illegal activities,” he wrote.
“I implore relevant independent media not to spread or believe rumours.”
He said that this has been a “painful lesson” for him, and that he had been living in self-blame and regret the past two years.
Xukun apologised for his ways and added that he would change his behaviour.
“In the future, I will strictly constrain my words and actions and accept public and societal supervision,” he said.
The entertainment business, on the other hand, has no trouble ignoring his situation. The 25-year-old’s works have reportedly been taken down from websites and other places since July 2. Notably, the filming of shows that he leads, like “Keep Running(奔跑吧),” has been put off.
People on the Internet are talking a lot about how quickly people in the entertainment business reacted, with many wondering if his career is over. Well, we won’t know what will happen to Cai Xukun until time passes.
