The Marvel Cinematic Universe is not over yet.
Marvel Studios recently announced their mind-blowing Phase 4 plan at the San-Diego Comic-Con 2019, featuring upcoming sequels and new superheroes to be introduced to the Marvel family!
Thanks to the forthcoming Disney+ streaming service, some of the newly announced Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will be available for streaming as a TV series on the media portal. Other than the main highlights of MCU like Thor or Doctor Strange, check out these 5 Marvel movies where our favourite understated Marvel characters finally got the limelight they deserve!
1. The Eternals
‘The Eternals’ could be the next version of ‘The Avengers’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Created in July 1976 by Jack Kirby, true to its name, ‘The Eternals’ is a revolutionised human race with eternal lifespan and superpower abilities thanks to a group of Celestials. Let’s not even get started with the amazing line-up of A-lister casts that includes Angelina Jolie, Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden, and even Korean star Ma Dong-seok.
‘The Eternals’ is set to release on November 6th, 2020.
2. Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings
Shang-Chi, being claimed as one of the best martial arts fighters in the Marvel universe, is distinct from the rest of the superheroes because he does not hold any superpowers. Not to mention the ability to projecting ‘chi’ energy like Iron Fist. Sounds exactly like the legendary fighter, Bruce Lee, right?
Being Marvel’s first Asian superhero movie, it has spun mixed reactions from the public. One thing’s for sure, 2021’s Chinese New Year celebration is bound to be a blast.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to hit the theatres on February 12th, 2021.
3. Blade
Torn between two worlds, Blade is about a hero who is a vampire, that hunts other vampires. The hero’s name who is originally called as Eric, is half-vampire, inheriting both the strengths and weaknesses of a vampire. The vampires known as “Daywalkers” are a rare breed, linked to their ability to walk in daylight. Blade’s hunt begins upon he crossing paths with Dracula, who killed Blade’s vampire hunter trainer.
Blade will be played by award-winning actor and rapper, Mahershala Ali, and is a reboot to the 1998’s film.
Not release date has been confirmed for Blade yet, but it is said to only be released until after 2022.
4. Black Widow
Black Widow has finally gotten the spotlights she deserves – a standalone film! No introduction needed for this gifted spy, except this time, in phase 4, fans will know that she isn’t alone.
Black Widow is set to be released on May 1st 2020.
5. Hawkeye
Earth’s mightiest marksman and archer, who turned from villain to hero. Hawkeye’s very first background story will be broadcasted on Disney+ as a TV series.
Hawkeye will be available for streaming in Disney+ on Fall 2021.
Other Marvel TV shows making their way in Disney+ TV, joining Hawkeye, includes The Falcon, Wanda Vision, and Loki. This also includes ‘What If…?’ that explores how the Marvel Universe might be if key moments in its history had not occurred as they did in continuity. Sounds a lot like a mind-blower!
