Have you wondered if you’re eligible for the GE15? Keep on reading to find out more!
The dissolution of parliament has been declared by Prime Minister Datuk Sabri Ismail Yaakob. Parliament has been dissolved, preparing for the 15th general election (GE15). As stated by Datuk Sabri Ismail Yaakob, the decision to dissolve Parliament was made in order to return the mandate to the people in light of the country’s political instability following three successive administrations in two and a half years. The GE15 was pushed to be held by the end of the year, but some of the party’s primary rivals objected.
Here’s how to check your voter registration status ahead of the GE15:
It is a good time now to check to see if your name is on the electoral roll even though the date of GE15 has yet to be established and will be announced by the Election Commission (EC) later. This is especially true for young people, many of whom will be first-time voters in the next General Election after the new voting age of 18.
Fortunately, we no longer need to physically visit the EC’s office to check your voter status because you may do it online via the “MySPR Semak”.
Choose “Semakan Daftar Pemilih” from the website’s homepage and then input your MyKad number as well as the captcha code presented on the screen. Your personal details and the voting location and details will be displayed at the search result.
