It’s that time of the year again!
A time where students would ask themselves this: “What would I do during this long holiday?” The longest break from school that most of us looked forward to by both primary and secondary school students. If your kids are about to start daycare or preschool, take this time to prepare them for this new experience.
Unfortunately, it’s also one of the times where students would be glued to their phones, and not do anything productive.
Sure, sleeping would sound like one of the most ideal things to do after the long stressful days of constantly waking up early and studying. But there are so many more productive things out there that you can do!
Here are 5 productive things you can use to make the most of it:
1. Watch Educational Videos
Sure, watching a little celebrity gossip here and then every now and then on YouTube might not be such a bad thing. But you would learn so much more watching educational videos on YouTube! Some of the popular YouTube channels that are educational include AsapSCIENCE, Crashcourse and The Infographic Show. Aside from watching educational videos on YouTube, you may also want to work on some subjects you’re having difficulties with. You may hire a math tutor to study your upcoming Math lessons ahead of time.
2. Pick Up A New Language
Learning a new language can bring you so many benefits in the future! It can even be added into your portfolio when you start working in the future. You don’t always have to pay for expensive classes to learn a new language. You can use applications on your smartphone to help you. Some of them include Vietnamese, Duo Lingo and Babel. You can even learn Vietnamese language on an online class similar to online vietnamese classes to master the language.
3. Adopt A New Hobby
Your holiday would be the best time to pick up a new hobby. Whether it’s cooking, dancing, singing, whatever it may be! A new hobby can never go wrong. It might even lead to a future career. You’d never know! Some of the popular hobbies you can pick up include, gardening, learning a new instrument, photography, and even juggling!
4. Move That Body!
Set an athletic goal for yourself. Perhaps doing at least 50 push ups every day or 40 sit-ups every day. Heading to the gym might be the best option for you, but if you feel like you can’t fully commit to a full-time gym membership. Perhaps opting to work out at home or even playing some sports and getting your blood pumping may help burn calories.
5. Earn Some Extra Cash
Wouldn’t you want to achieve that dream of yours of becoming a young entrepreneur? You can start by selling the old stuff or old electronics that you aren’t using at home. Consider using some apps such as Backflip that would allow you to sell your secondhand or new stuff.
If you don’t have anything to sell at home, consider getting a job. Just make sure that you are fit for the job by undergoing tests such as the ones on the DOT physical exam locations in Houston. It might be an unpaid job too, but remember “Take a job for what you will learn, not for what you will earn.” Don’t belittle the simplest jobs, they might just build the character, if not skills.
