A new movie is about to bring us the stories of Malaysians on one of our most historically significant days in recent memory! It seems that a movie about the events of GE14 is already being made! That didn’t take long, did it?
The movie is called Rise: Ini Kalilah and will follow the perspectives of multiple characters as they deal with various issues regarding the election. So it’s kind of like that movie Crash or that one episode from Rick and Morty.
Interestingly, the movie is being directed by three different directors; Saw Teong Hin, Nik Amir Mustapha, and Prem Nath. This is somewhat odd but considering that the film only had a three months production, perhaps having three minds working on it helped speed it up, while sticking to a consistent quality.
The film was shot in Malaysia, Singapore, and Britain. It is said to have storylines such as a student rushing to deliver a postal vote, and a businessman in trouble over politically-motivated criminal charges.
The cast of the film is quite star-studded as well, with names such as Remy Ishak, Jack Tan, Sangeeta Krishnasamy and Mira Filzah in the mix. It will be interesting to see what all these actors can bring to a project like this.
The film is set to be released on Malaysia Day and anticipation is already quite high. Most of the netizens seem quite keen to see how the film tackles our historical election and/or its aftermath, while there are a few who wonder how it was made so soon. There is also discussion about how faithful the film will be to the events that took place, especially since it has not been very long since the actual election took place.
So what do you think, dear reader? Are you itching to go see this film? Are you as amazed as we are about how little time it took to make it?
We at Sevenpie are definitely interested in seeing where the film goes. It has the potential to be quite interesting. In the meantime, here’s the trailer for the film!
