A recent graduate student from Illinois, USA, was sexually assaulted by an American guy who pushed her down the ravine and killed her.
Eva went to Germany to see the Neuschwanstein Castle with her friend Kelsey, who was also attacked. The New York Post said that the American guy and both women were staying at the same hotel. He tried to get them to follow a trail. There, he struck Eva physically, and when Kelsey tried to help, she was pushed off the steep cliff.
The man then kept touching Eva sexually and then threw her down. Kelsey was saved by a tree that kept her from falling all the way to the bottom of the valley. Eva, sadly, did not make it. She was flown to the hospital, but the next day, it was said that she had died. She fell into the ravine 165 feet down.
Due to the accident, a bridge near the castle, which gets about 1.4 million tourists a year, was closed for a while. Last month, Eva and Kelsey got their degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).
The attack happened last Wednesday, June 14. Since then, the German police have caught the man on charges of murder, attempted murder, and sexual offense.
A story from Mirror UK says that the man got Eva and Kelsey to go with him to a lookout point, where they were attacked. At the time this was written, Kelsey was still in the hospital getting better.
It’s terrible that what was supposed to be a vacation and a graduation celebration turned into a tragedy. We hope Kelsey gets better soon and that Eva will get what’s right.
