Here we are ladies and gentlemen, we are in the midst of 7th month of the Chinese calendar which marks as The Ghost Month yet again. Best take note on some of our mama and papa superstitious beliefs, don’t mingle with your friends too late at night, never turn your back if you heard someone or something calling your name or even the slightest sound, do not look on trees and never take any offerings that belongs to the spirits. To get you in the mood of the haunting month and as a motivation to not going out late in the middle of the night, here are the freaking scary Asian horror movies that has traumatised me as a kid especially number six of the list, which I shall not google the pictures.
1) The Eye
This Hong Kong and Singaporean horror film tells the story of a woman who could see mysterious apparitions after getting a pair of eyes transplant as she was blind since she was young. Watching this will make you think twice of getting on the elevator ever again.
2) Dark Water
Oh it’s just water leaks in the old apartment. What could go wrong? There’s nothing to worry about. But when you started seeing a little girl in yellow raincoat around your scary, old apartment corridors, that would be the perfect time to flee and call a priest. Yikesssss.
3) The Ring
Cursed tape. You watch it, you die in seven days killed by a superbly long-haired lady that comes up from the well in the video and appear through your television in a much better than current high-tech 3D world.
4) Shutter
Thai horror films have been a masterpiece in the making as this haunting based on photographs is one that you really should not watch alone. I shall not put any more words into this as I am getting terrified and trembling now so let’s move on to the next.
5) The Host
Okay, let’s take a breather from those terrifying hauntings and paranormal stuffs and look into this monster horror movie instead. The Host is South Korean monster movie, that was beautifully written and produced with spookiness at every corner, and the design of the creature was eerily horrid and scary as hell.
6) Ju-On, The Grudge
So we have come to number six. Erm… A child that makes meow voice and his mother that makes cracking voice who kills their victims and scares the audience so creatively, that both of them could get a master certificate in scare tactics. No more blankets during my sleep so moving on! Sorry I really don’t have the guts to attach pictures here as it really gave me some nightmarish sleeps. Eeekkkkk!
7) A Tale of Two Sisters
A twin sisters are reunited after one of them is released from a mental institution and to find out that their home is plagued by strange occurrences and entities that is somehow connected to the dark history of the family. A story of chilling suspense and terrifying theme around the corner, A Tale of Two Sisters is really must-watch for horror fanatics.
