We’re sure that you have probably come across a lot of posts about dealing with bad days, stress, etc.
Yes, it is important to know how to maintain a healthy mental wellbeing, but let’s not give all the attention to the negative aspects only.
Everyday, our mind frequently wanders around different thought bubbles of our own. Be it good or bad, sometimes we linger around the thought too much and it affects our mood. What happens when this mind-wandering episode of yours is a happy one?
1.Understand that you are allowed to have happy thoughts
Some people perceive having joyful imagination as being unrealistic and naive. However, don’t allow those judgemental excuses to stop your brain from doing what it does best: imagining. Even if what brightens up your day is very different from others, do not feel uncomfortable about it. No one should make you feel bad about liking what you like. Since the thoughts are just in your own little mind, go ahead and enjoy it, and understand that you are allowed to have those thoughts.
2.Identify your happy thoughts
Is it a small incident you came up with, hoping to experience it; or is it a playback of memory you’ve already experienced, hoping to experience it again? Is the thought realistic? If not, it’s okay! Allow it to happen the way you want it to be in your fantasies.
3.Express it, don’t hold back
If you want to smile, just smile. No one is stopping you. Don’t feel weird about it. Expressing your happiness can increase the energy bar of the room, and brighten up the mood of everyone else around you.
4.Don’t overthink
When it’s about the happy memory you’ve experienced in the past, avoid overthinking about the “what ifs.” Appreciate and accept what has already happened. Even if it really could have been better, consider it a lesson. When a similar event occurs in the future, you know what to do!
5.Share with friends
If you come across some really interesting thoughts, why not share it with your friends? You can talk to them in person, text them, or post them on social media. Practice openness with your thoughts, it will help you to feel more comfortable about your random thoughts. Also, you’ll never know if you will find someone whose mind is as weird as yours.
6.Write it down
If you don’t feel comfortable sharing your thoughts, write them down and keep it for yourself. Don’t let happiness just go to waste. Writing your happy thoughts down physically helps you to value your thoughts. On your bad days, you can just read them again and remind yourself of the happiness you deserve.
7.Don’t be obsessed
Not all things are permanent. Don’t limit yourself by getting overly obsessed with one single thought. Always open up opportunities for more random happy thoughts to come in.
Nevertheless, every moment is meant to be cherished. You can’t force happiness to come, but keep in mind that sad moments can lead to happiness as well. For all this, dealing with happy thoughts should not be so complicated. Just do what you feel right the moment, because there is only one way to find out if things will work out.
