Malaysian actress Koe Yeet has been nominated for the Best Newcomer Actress Award at the Asia Contents Awards (ACA), organized by the Busan International Film Festival.
Koe Yeet was nominated in her role in the 2020 Singaporean drama series Titoudao: Inspired By The True Story Of A Wayang Star. The 13-episodes drama, adapted from a 1994 play by playwright Goh Boon Teck, depicts the life of wayang idol Ah Chiam, whom played by Koe. The heartful story was inspired by Goh’s mother, whose a real-life Chinese opera dowager Oon Ah Chiam back in the days.
ACA received a record 163 submissions from 16 nations, including television and web series, nearly double the amount of submission received last year.
The awards ceremony will be streamed on Oct 7.
Law graduate, Koe, who is a barrister, began acting when she was five in various television advertisements. As many know, she also starred in the 2008 action-comedy Ah long Pte Ltd directed by Jack Neo.
