Every year when SPM takes place, Additional Mathematics seems to be the hardest paper ever that students have had to take. The same goes for the SPM season which is currently on-going.
Some even said that the questions on the paper were so tough that even the teachers were struggling to answer the questions, and students even break into tears due to the tough questions they couldn’t answer.
Prior to this, a student who sat for the exam, Joseph Tan started a petition at change.org calling for the Education Ministry to lower the Add Maths paper to allow for a passing mark of 5%.
According to him, the paper was far too difficult. He asks that the passing mark for the paper to be lowered to 5% with a score of 50% as an A+.
The petition has gained 29,620 signatures so far! Students nationwide have signed it to show their support.
Responding to this concern, Examinations Syndicate director of examinations Adzman Talib explained that every exam question was based on the curriculum taught to all candidates.
He called on to all parents to not worry as he assured that the ministry would make sure that all candidates be treated fairly.
