It must have been a bad day for Maxis and their users!
On Monday afternoon (6 October) Maxis users began experiencing problems. The 4G network was not working perfectly. The 4G network was reduced to 3G, 2G, H, and E, to even not working at all.
Since lunchtime, the entire network nationwide was down, with users reporting extremely slow to no connection at all. The outage map below indicates the gravity of the problem.
Maxis released a statement a few hours into the outage, stating that customers are experiencing “interruptions within their lines and are working hard to rectify this as soon as possible”.
Maxis users weren’t too happy with the outage and began tweeting their rage towards the problem. Some even did it creatively with a dose of humour!

Maxis later released a statement around 11 PM on their Facebook page saying that they are fixing interruptions into the services and are working to rectify that problem as soon as possible.
On Tuesday morning, Maxis released another statement saying that the problem has been fixed and all services restored back to 4G. They apologize for the inconvenient caused and are still monitoring the situation to ensure continued stability.
However, despite services being restored many customers complained that the network was still not in 4G. Many slammed that an apology was not enough, and demanded more for the loss to be compensated. Some even threatened to change networks!
