With all these puns, something I feel like a cod do better puns… After all, I get a reel laugh when I lure people into fishing puns. Puns aside, here’s some epic spots you could head to to do some fishing… and annoy your friends with some fishy puns.
1. Tanjung Tuan, Port Dickson
If you like jigging and light offshore casting, then Port Dickson is the place for you. It’s just about 40 minutes from the shore and becoming one of the most famous fishing spots in Malaysia due to its serene atmosphere. There is such an abundance of fish that you don’t even need to use a portable fish finder. If you live in KL, you can go there for a day trip, or if you’d like, you can go there and have a weekend getaway whilst also enjoying the beach. This spot is known with its Queenfish, but still packs a punch to avid anglers with trophy catches like the Giant Trevally, Diamond Trevally and Barred Mackerel.
2. Royal Belum State Park, Perak
Love the outdoors but also itchin’ to fish? Head here. It’s one of the best places for fresh water fishing in Malaysia filled with natural beauty and home to the Jungle Perch, Mahseer and Giant Snake Head. Other than that, you can also enjoy boathouses, boating, and even jungle trekking.
3. Fish Valley, Semenyih
If you live in KL and are looking for a short getaway to a place with a beautiful scenery of green valleys and a lake with a variety of fishes, this is the place to go. It’s nothing too serious and is a great place for avid anglers to enjoy their weekend with friends and families. And when you’re done fishing you can also enjoy a great meal at a Chinese restaurant nearby. Here, you can find fishes like the Patin, Pacu, Carps, Arapaima, Mekong Catfish, Bard and Tilapia.
4. Jarak Island, Perak
Serious about saltwater fishes? Come here. It’s considered one of the best jigging sports in the west coast and is filled with trophy species like the Giant Trevally, Cobia, Barred Mackerel and if you’re lucky; the Dog Tooth Tuna. 5. Tasek Bera, Pahang
If you like freshwater fishes, this place is great for lure casting and freshwater fishing. It is not mainly known for its fishing activities but there are some fishing-enthusiasts that got a good experience out of it. After all, there are still a lot of untouched fishing spots accompanied with a gorgeous natural swamp vegetation and lake.
6. Tioman Island, Pahang
This spot offers a range of light jigging and bottom fishing for anglers. It is situated off the East Coast Island of Tioman and of course, other than fishing, you can enjoy the white sandy beaches too.
