The Exchange 106, also known as Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), a new skyscraper that will take over KL’s skyline and will soon surpass the tallest twin towers in the country and region – the iconic Petronas Twin Tower.
At a height of 492.5 meters, it surpasses the Petronas Twin Towers by 40.6 meters. It’ll have 106 floors – 18 more floors than the twin towers and owned and developed by Mulia Property Development Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s renowned Mulia Group and is expected to complete by June 2018.
It is constructed in an incredibly speedy timeline and as of December 2017, 27 storeys are completed in just 10 months. The office tower is the first building to reach its top in the TRX. The foundation that holds the building was built first and the floors are slowly constructed around it.
When completed, the tower will among Top 15 tallest buildings in the world until the completion of another tall skyscraper, the KL118. It is also going to be the first ever building in South East Asia to have more than 100 storeys.
It takes 70 acres of land in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and is set to become a leading centre for international finance and business.
According to Mulia, it will have a 15-metre grand lobby with almost three million sq feet of lettable space and eight basement floors of car park bays. Not only that, it will also have a 48-metre sky lobby and a 12-storey high LED-illuminated glass crown at its peak.
Quite a controversy has been stirred as the TRX will be in the way of some people’s views of the Petronas Twin Towers.
