As Malaysia’s 60th Independence Day is approaching, it also means, it’s already the 60th years of the multi-racial Malaysian which consist of Malays, Chinese, Indians and numerous indigenous people living peacefully together.
So, what binds these people of different race & culture together?
It has to be our fav. thing in the entire world – THE MALAYSIAN FOOD!
The food we have here in Malaysia is very much defined by the culture. We, Malaysian, are blessed with a wide varieties of FOOD! &, though favourite Malaysian food may differ, but through our flavours that we love, we are united even through our differences in culture.
In the FOOD language, there is no Malay, Chinese and Indian, there is only Malaysian. Show some love to our brothers and sisters, no matter what skin colour or religion you are.
So…. #makanlahflavoursthatuniteus!
Share-lah FOOD sama-sama!
The bubbly Radio DJ / Emcee / Host Melissa Th’ng is never shy to express her craving for Malaysian’s Food. What makes the food even better is the companion you are with. In this case, she loves having her food around friends of different races who all share the same passion.

OK-lah, let’s be friends!
Food connects people which is true for Tasnim Shah. Ever since she was a little child, she rarely initiate talks with people because of her introvert personality. But with food, everything is possible as people do come together for their love towards food.
@tasnimshah_: If you know me well, im an introvert. It’ll take me awhile to be talkative. However, my love towards food is real. Food always connect me with people. I guess nobody will say no to food right? Sally, perhaps this is the reason we are connected, because we love food! ?

Win-liao-lah, Indian speaks better Chinese than a Chinese
Don’t fret when you see an Indian speak fluent Chinese, and has low tolerance for spicy food. It is very common in Malaysia.
Skin color doesn’t mean anything, instead of calling one-self an indian, malay or chine;
We prefer to be called MALAYSIAN.
Winky converse in Chinese with her indian friend, and both of them enjoyed the same Malaysian food – NASI LEMAK. That’s what makes being a Malaysian remarkable.
@winkyqii_0710: This is my friend, Surean. Our skin color & race might be different, but we’re both proud Malaysians who love Nasi Lemak & Curry Puff and guess what, I can eat spicier food than him & his Chinese speaking skill is as good as mine. That’s how amazing Malaysians can be, wishing Malaysia 60th Selamat Hari Kebangsaan!?? @foodpandamy #makanlahflavoursthatuniteus
Sweet-lah, growing old together, with Malaysian Food

@michelleleongkk: If food doesn’t bring you closer, I don’t know what will 😉 Joe and I met about 3 years ago and we always talk about our endless passion for food. (That’s why we’re growing sideways now) He’s mixed of 4 races but he still enjoys local food the most. We’re same same, but different 🙂 From nasi lemak dates to tapau-ing food at home, nothing beats good company and food together. ??This coming Merdeka, we’re so gonna order food delivery at home to feast like beasts! Deal-lah, business is on when there’s FOOD
Undeniable, the best way to bond with your client of different race and culture is through food and this proven by the career woman, Tzia Tzia, who is doing very well to keep her client’s tummy happy. With food, it brings people together as we all share the same Malaysian taste and cravings.
@tziaaa: @foodpandamy ‘s meal for lunch today, ordered my fav. chicken satay, & steamed chicken rice for my client! The nature of my work brings me to meet people of different race and culture, but I am glad that in Malaysia, we shared the same Malaysian’s flavor. #makanlahflavoursthatuniteus
It’s true-lah, that food unites people!
We all have our own favourite Nasi Lemak, Char Kuey Teow, and Roti Canai stalls.
We root for the same badminton players, we all feel proud when some Malaysians win some random award overseas, and we are proud to wave our Malaysia Flags in all music festivals.
This is the truly spirit of Malaysia that we all want to see!
And that’s the spirit we want to pass down to our children and our grandchildren!
Food also serves as culture melting pot for multiracial Malaysians. Exactly like the movie The Avengers, where different superheroes come together, regardless of their differences because they have a common goal which is to defend the earth. Not saying you have to be a superhero to make a difference, but normal people like you and I can make Malaysia a better place through food, like what our favourite online personalities are doing right now.
Awesome-lah, massage also can enjoy my fav. Malaysian food
