For those who celebrates Thanksgiving as yearly affair, it’s okay to admit that you’re sick and tired of gobbling down the same ol’ turkey every year. Turkey isn’t for everyone, especially Malaysians. We all know that Turkey is an exclusive protein and THE classic centerpiece for Thanksgiving (and Christmas), but more often than not, turkey is simply not an easy bird to cook and if you get the temperatures wrongly, you’ll end up serving an under-cooked turkey and Gordon Ramsey is not going to be pleased about you serving raw food. So, why not switch things up this year and serve something else besides the big bird?
Here are some amazing, lip-smacking alternatives that are rounded up just for you:
1. Braised Lamb Shanks in Red Wine
Just imagine the tender, juicy meat disintegrates in your mouth along with a chunk of mash potatoes sopped in the gravy. You’ll know you’ve cooked it well when the lamb shanks fall off the bone.
2. Roasted Beef Brisket
Nothing is better than a beef brisket being roasted for at least 4 hours, soaked in its own glorious juices and the ingredients inside till it is melt-in-your-mouth tender worthy. This is the definition of comfort food.
3. Pineapple Honey Glazed Ham
You can never go wrong with this simple yet flavorful alternative made with pineapple juice, Dijon mustard and honey glaze on the spiral ham.
4. BBQ Cranberry Chicken
The BBQ and cranberry sauce are hands down one of the best combo ever! Not only does it sounds good, it smells good and for sure taste extremely heavenly! Don’t forget to complete your dish with some sides of mashed potatoes and fresh green beans!
5. Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Pork Tenderloin
Just be sure to weave the bacon tightly and remember that leave equal amount of space between the bacon or else when it shrinks while cooking it, bits of the bacon and pork will show underneath which makes it look rather unappealing.
