One thing where most Malaysians can’t live without is instant noodles. Even when we’re traveling abroad, we seemed to pack it along with us like it’s a dietary mandate!
No matter how many times people tell us that it’s bad for our health, we just can’t resist a good, piping hot bowl of instant noodles.
Instant noodles have been there for us during broke student times, satisfied our hunger when trap at home and the perfect midnight snack for us to order at the Mamak. It has always got our back!
Well, to top all that off, our love for instant noodles is now shared internationally as our very own Malaysian instant noodle ranked top 2 by the international website “L.A. Times” on the list of the best tasting instant noodles of 2019!
Surprisingly, Maggi Mee isn’t part of it!
MyKuali Penang White Curry has been ranked as the second best-tasting instant ramen of 2019 in the ‘L.A. Times Instant Ramen Power Rankings’ list.
In total, 31 instant noodles were ranked based on two factors: taste and in truth in advertising.
Lucas Kwan Peterson, a food columnist said that MyKuali makes a number of excellent noodle products. He said Penang White Curry is one of the best as it has a deep seafood flavor, slightly sweet and almost coconutty.’
That’s not all, Malaysia not only has 1 instant noodle on the list, but 3 in total that made it to the top 10!
Ranking at number 5 on the list is Ibumie Mi Goreng Curry Kapitan.
Peterson said the instant noodle flavor brings a strong, distinct profile to create a very satisfying dry noodle and the sweet-spicy sauce combo is done exceedingly well.
Thought you’d seen the last of MyKuali? Penang Spicy Prawn by MyKuali has been ranked at No 7 on the list!
It has been crowned for truth in advertising for its deep and briny taste. Peterson claims that the instant noodle is a crustacean carnival, colourfully describing the soup’s flavour akin to “sucking the goopy marrow from the head of a shrimp.”
Well, this truly shows that Penang’s food power is not to be messed with.
