Remember the iconic 127-year old tree in Malacca? Sadly, after over 127 years, the tree has uprooted during a storm.
The tree that was situated infant of the Stadthuys Building at Jalan Gereja was planted during the British colonial era has tumbled on the scene during a heavy storm at 6am. According to Coconuts.co “The tree fell due to its old roots,” Moahzam Shaari from Melaka city council’s landscape authority told the press today. He also added that a new tree will be planted at the same location soon.

I guess this is a pretty fresh start for Jalan gereja
The historical tree was planted in 1894 and was measure at over 1.5 meter in diameter that has since became an iconic tree that is visited on a daily basis with picture taking, and not to mention a great place to relax on a hot Malaccan day.

The fallen tree has since been cleared by the authorities after it was discovered in the morning.
