Hello Aisha! Please tell us more about yourself.
Hi! I’m Aisha. I’m a 24-year old makeup enthusiast from Penang and I make YouTube videos.
What inspire you to be a beauty guru and a YouTuber?
I love dressing up and be pretty to begin with. It’s just something I enjoy doing. I learn all my tips and tricks in doing makeup from makeup tutorials on YouTube and I watch them quite a lot. From there I thought, hey, I have a makeup look to share with others too! And so it began…
To you, what is makeup?
Makeup is something you put on your face to make yourself look and feel more beautiful. In fact, a smile can be the best makeup you can possibly wear! It’s also art and a way to express your creativity, I feel.
“High-end cosmetics produce better makeup” What are some of the thoughts you have towards this statement?
I think high-end cosmetics doesn’t necessarily produce better makeup. I’ve tried loads of makeup products from no brand, to local, to drugstore, to high-end, to luxury. I can confidently say that some drugstore brands produce pretty good makeup (eg: Maybelline age rewind concealer)! And I’ve also tried luxury brands makeup that are just… not even worth it. But for most of it, I have to admit, it’s easier for me to find better quality makeup on the high-end category than in the lower side.
If you are in a rush, share with us the makeup steps that you definitely can’t skip. (eyebrow, lips, foundation etc)
I would usually do my brows, put on some blush and lip tint or any neutral coloured lipstick. If I had a bit more time, maybe eyeliner as well.
State your 3 must-have cosmetics in your bag.
Eyebrow pencil, blusher, lipstick.
Share with us some tips on how to make make-up long lasting.
I don’t really have any special tips that I use to make my makeup last longer. I usually just make sure I prep and prime my face well before makeup and set everything in place with a setting sparay. The UD all nighter setting spray is my current fav.
Are there days that you have no makeup on, just to let your skin take a break? How often it is?
Of course! It’s actually pretty much every other day. Contrary to popular belief, most days I actually don’t wear makeup. I only wear full on makeup if I have a video to film, pictures to take, or out for an event.
Among your makeup tutorials, share with us one of your favourite/satisfied look.
Wow this is a hard one. I consider my makeup looks masterpieces, okay. 😛 I guess for now I have to say, my “Halo eyes makeup tutorial” is my favourite.
What equipment do you use to record your makeup tutorials?
I use a Canon EOS M10 to film all my videos and a ringlight (because lighting is key when it comes to makeup).
Where do you see yourself in 2 years’ time?
Hmmm. I sure see myself still putting up videos on my YouTube channel! And maybe bigger collabs with brands I love?
Any life motto?
No matter what happens, be kind, always.
