ASOS, one of the largest online fashion retailers in UK has recently broke out of the chain by ditching conventional, heavily Photoshop and airbrushed pictures of their models for display purposes.
With more than 80,000 brands retailing under its site, people started to freak out when unretouched photos emerged on their site, mostly for the good reasons and it immediately got everyone’s attention.
ASOS now has more than 3,500 plus size model’s option. They feature curvy model and models who have stretchmarks and acne scars on them. Using unretouched images of models makes another home run to stop body shaming by shedding some light into the superficiality and the brutal honesty of the fashion industry where imperfections are not tolerated.
With this initiative, people become more aware of the negative impacts of photo editing and its manipulation on consumers’ needs to be perfect.
The beauty of a woman should not be measured only on the outside; true beauty lies within her soul. Love yourself, love whatever makes you different, and use it to make you stand out.
