Many of us have come to love and cherish the huge variants of locally produced fruits. Then you can also consider planting some fruit trees in the garden if you have any space as they obviously offer a bounty of free fruit. There are some brilliant fruit trees for sale online so you can easily order one and then plant it. Depending on the types of fruits, it’s usually much more affordable, fresher and delicious than imported fruits. Since it’s the month of December, there’s a whole lot of fruits are making appearances at fruit stores.
Be sure to grab these au natural superfood before it’s out of season:
1. Mangosteen
These are used for diarrhea, menstrual disorders, reducing the risk of cancer, inflammation and more. It’s also used for stimulating the immune system and improving mental health because of its antioxidant, antifungal and antibacterial properties.
The Mangosteen season happens from December to January.
2. Rambutan
Rambutans are used for bloodflow, lowering cholesterol, reducing blood pressure as well as antioxidants. They’re are packed with vitamins like Vitamin C and minerals, making them great at helping keep your immune system healthy and flushing out toxins. They’re also a good source of copper.
They’re available from November to January.
3. Duku Langsat
Sweeter and nicer owing than the standard Langsat and costing about RM7/kg, the Duku Langsat contains Vitamin A, B1 and B2 as well as antioxidant properties. It’s effective in maintaining good eye health and protecting the skin. It also prevents premature aging and assists in strengthening and whitening your teeth.
They’re available from November to February.
4. Soursop
Also known as Durian Belanda or Durian Mekah, this fruit is rich in Vitamin C, B and antioxidant properties. It control parasites by cleansing your gut, has anti-inflammatory properties as well as relieves respiratory distress.
They’re available from October to December.
5. Snakefruit
Also known as Salak and looking like a dragon egg from Game of Thrones, it’s slightly acidic, giving it a citrus like tingle of a taste. It contains protein, beta-carotene, Vitamin C, calcium, carbohydrates and more. It works well to prevent strokes. It is also used for eye medicine, diarrhea, blood sugar, morning sickness and more. (Psst, eating it can help with weight loss too!)
Salak season is December to January on the east coast.
6. Cempedak
This fruit is filled with Vitamin A, C, B1 and B2 as well as antioxidants and antibacterial properties. It helps with hearth health by decreasing cholesterol levels and reduces hypertension. It also helps with digestive and eye health and control obesity.
They’re available between November and February.
7. Durian
Last on this list, but never the least- the King of Fruits which is rich with dietary fiber and Vitamin C and B, as well as beneficial fats. It helps with depression, digestion, blood pressure, insomnia and aging.
Durian is actually beneficial (until you had too much of it or mixed it with food which doesn’t go well with it).
Durian season is between November and January.
